Description

Super Mario World is a side-scrolling platform game developed by Nintendo EAD. As a direct sequel to Super Mario Bros. 3, the game retains many elements of its predecessor, such as the world map and fights against Koopalings, but also introduces a variety of new gameplay mechanics. One of the most notable additions was the introduction of Yoshi, Mario's companion, who offered a unique playstyle and special abilities.

The game is notable for its expanded, less linear world map, allowing players to choose different routes and discover secrets along the way. Additionally, it was one of the first games of its time to allow save games, meaning players could save their progress instead of having to complete the game in a single session.

In terms of technical data, Super Mario World took advantage of the capabilities of the SNES to offer improved graphics and a richer soundtrack compared to previous consoles. The game ran at a resolution of 256x224 pixels and displayed a vibrant color palette characteristic of the 16-bit console.

Super Mario World was ported to several platforms over the years, including the Game Boy Advance as Super Mario Advance 2, as well as various Nintendo Virtual Consoles. These ported versions often included improvements such as updated graphics, improved sound, and, in some cases, additional content. For example, the Game Boy Advance version included extra levels and the ability to play as Luigi with its own gameplay features.

However, there were also deficiencies in some of the ported versions. For example, due to the limitations of the Game Boy Advance's smaller screen, the field of view in the game was smaller, which could affect gameplay. Additionally, some purists argue that the differences in game control and response on the portable versions did not always match the original SNES experience.

Despite these differences, Super Mario World is still considered one of the most iconic and beloved games in video game history, and its legacy continues to influence platform game design to this day. Its influence extends beyond the borders of the console for which it was originally created, and it remains a benchmark in the industry.

History

The story of "Super Mario World" begins with Mario and Luigi on a mission to save Princess Peach, who has been kidnapped by the evil Bowser. The brothers arrive in Dinosaur Land, where they discover that Bowser and his henchmen, the Koopalings, are wreaking havoc.

Throughout the game, Mario and Luigi travel through diverse and colorful worlds, from the peaceful Yoshi's Island to the dangerous Bowser's Valley. In each world, they face unique challenges and varied enemies, searching for clues and secret routes that bring them closer to Bowser's fortress.

On their adventure, the brothers meet Yoshi, a friendly dinosaur who helps them on their quest. Yoshi can eat enemies and discover hidden secrets that Mario and Luigi can't reach on their own. Together, they form an unstoppable team that travels the world, overcoming obstacles and collecting valuable items.

Each world culminates in a battle against one of the Koopalings, in which Mario and Luigi must use their wits and skills to emerge victorious. After defeating each Koopaling, the brothers get closer and closer to the final confrontation with Bowser.

Finally, Mario and Luigi arrive at Bowser's castle, where they face the king of the Koopas in an epic battle. Using their cunning and the skills they learned during their journey, they manage to defeat Bowser and rescue Princess Peach.

With Peach safe and Dinosaur Land free from Bowser's tyranny, Mario, Luigi and Yoshi take a well-deserved break, knowing that they have restored peace once again. However, they are always ready for the next adventure, knowing that the mushroom kingdom and its inhabitants may need them at any moment. This is how the story of "Super Mario World" ends, a journey full of action, friendship and heroism.
