Description

Kung Fu for the NES was one of the first games to bring the excitement of the martial arts to home consoles. Launched in the mid-80's, this pioneering title captured the essence of fighting games with a simple gameplay but addictive that became an instant classic.

The gameplay is focused on fighting body to body against a series of opponents, each with their own abilities and attack patterns. The player controlled a kung fu master who was supposed to use a variety of moves, from simple punches and kicks until combos more elaborate and special techniques. The difficulty of the game was progressively increased, presenting challenges that put to test the skill and patience of the player.

Visually, Kung Fu presented a two-dimensional charts that, despite its simplicity, managed to convey the intensity of the fighting. The sprites of the characters were instantly recognisable, and the animations, although limited by the technical capabilities of the NES, they were fluid and expressive. The sound, for his part, was basic, but effective, with sound effects that went along with the strokes and a background music that helped to create an epic atmosphere and exciting.

Kung Fu for the NES was one of the first fighting games to arrive on home consoles, but he was not alone. Titles like Karate Champ, and Street Fighter II, although belonging to different generations, they also left a powerful mark on the genre. In comparison with these games, Kung Fu stood out for its focus on melee combat and difficulty, which made it an experience more challenging for the players.
