Description

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for Game Boy Color (GBC) is an enhanced version of the classic NES game, Super Mario Bros. This Deluxe version faithfully reproduces the original game with all levels, enemies, and secrets intact, but also includes new features that They enrich the gaming experience. Among the technical improvements are smoother animations for elements such as water and lava, as well as a world map that shows the player's progress. Additionally, the ability to save the game at any time has been added, which was a limitation in the original NES version.

As for availability on other platforms, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe was not only released for GBC, but is also available on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. This version allows players to enjoy the game on a modern portable console, while maintaining the essence of the classic game. Although no significant impairments have been reported, the GBC's lower screen resolution compared to the NES results in some elements being off-screen, which can increase difficulty in certain stages.

The plot of Super Mario Bros. Deluxe remains the same charming, simple story that has defined the series: the Mushroom Kingdom has been invaded and Princess Peach has been captured by Bowser. Mario (and Luigi, if chosen) must traverse various worlds, confront Bowser's minions and finally rescue the princess. This simple but engaging narrative has been a constant in the series and continues to be a central element in Super Mario Bros. Deluxe.

In addition to technical improvements and plot, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe introduces "Challenge Mode", where players can earn medals by finding five red coins, a Yoshi egg, and achieving a high score on each level. This mode adds a new level of replayability and challenge to the game, encouraging players to explore each level thoroughly to discover all its secrets.

History

The story of "Super Mario Bros. Deluxe" for Game Boy Color follows the adventures of the iconic plumber Mario, whose mission is to rescue Princess Peach from the evil Bowser, king of the Koopas. The game begins in the Mushroom Kingdom, which has been invaded by Bowser and his minions. The inhabitants of the kingdom have been transformed into objects such as stones and bricks, and the princess has been kidnapped.

Mario, the protagonist, must cross various worlds and overcome multiple obstacles to reach Bowser's castle. Each world is made up of different levels, including outdoor terrain, underground, water, and sky areas. Mario faces various enemies, such as Goombas and Koopa Troopas, and must avoid dangers such as bottomless pits and lava areas.

Throughout his journey, Mario can gain special powers by collecting items such as the mushroom, which makes him grow; the fire flower, which allows him to throw fireballs; and the star, which makes him temporarily invincible. These powers are essential to overcome the challenges presented in the levels.

At the end of each world, Mario must face a boss, which is usually one of Bowser's henchmen. After defeating the boss, Mario advances to the next world, getting closer and closer to the final showdown with Bowser.

The climax of the game occurs in the last castle, where Mario must navigate through a maze of platforms and traps before facing Bowser in a decisive battle. Once Mario defeats Bowser, he rescues Princess Peach and restores peace to the Mushroom Kingdom.

"Super Mario Bros. Deluxe" also includes "The Lost Levels," offering a more challenging gameplay experience with additional levels and more difficult enemies. This part of the game is unlocked after completing the main story and provides a continuation of the adventure for players looking for a greater challenge.
