Description
Donkey Kong was originally released for arcade machines in 1981 and later adapted for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). This NES version is known for being one of the most faithful adaptations of the original arcade game. In addition to NES, Donkey Kong has been available on various platforms such as Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, being part of the selection of pre-installed games on Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System.
The gameplay of Donkey Kong is simple but challenging, where the player controls Jumpman, later known as Mario, with the goal of rescuing Pauline from the clutches of Donkey Kong. The game is made up of four different levels, each with its own obstacles and enemies. Stairs are a crucial element in the game, allowing Jumpman to advance across platforms. In some levels, it is required to find a key to unlock the door to the next level.
As for improvements, the NES version introduced improved graphics and sounds compared to the arcade version, while maintaining the essence of the original game. However, some critics point out that the NES version did not include all the levels present in the arcade version, which could be considered a deterioration in terms of content.
The plot of Donkey Kong is simple but: Jumpman must save his girlfriend, Pauline, from a giant gorilla named Donkey Kong. The story, although not deep, was enough to capture players' attention and became a timeless classic. The game's design was the work of the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto, who is also responsible for other classic titles such as Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda.
